A 3 day course in Graz (organizer TUG) – month 24. Number of attendees: 15-20 (only open to the programme and invited expert). The main product of the MBRs is the data that are generated. This course will therefore pay specific attention to data collection, use of data in control loops, and interpretation of collected data. Available sensing techniques will be illustrated, with focus on advantages and limitations of working at the microscale (day 1). The rest of the course will be spent on providing basic skills in data interpretation. TUB will teach basic analytical techniques like linear regression, nonlinear curve fitting, as well as elemental balances. DTU gives introduction to process control. An external expert will be invited to teach one day on data mining methods (Application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Chemometric methods for data-driven modeling). A final discussion session is dedicated to identifying suitable applications of the methods in specific ESR and ER research projects.
